Your hunch was correct. My original install was from a network device. I soon discovered that many export options (for example, all options to export to Excel) were missing from my choices of export report formats. There were other anomalies, as well. For instance, using the date picker widget to select report date parameters would raise a script error. A different post to this forum also informed me that network installs could be problematic. So I pulled a knowledge base article on uninstalling manually, and performed that operation. I then copied the install package to my local PC and reinstalled Crystal 11 ver. 14. All seems to be good now, as the Excel export options are now available, and I can select dates from the widget with no errors.
