Hi BPC experts,
I have a specific report to make about intercompanies (see picture) where the ACCOUNT dimension (right) and INTERCO dimension (left, not in the picture) are in rows and ENTITY dimension in columns. I have an hierarchy that regroups all the entities in the last column. I need a total for each INTERCO member (grey row in picture). I_NONE is excluded in this report.
I have 3 issues about this report :
1) negative/positive amounts
In MONA (a competitor of BPC), amounts are positive or negative according to the amounts that are in debit or credit. In BPC, these amounts are positive/negative according to the account type property (LEQ, INC, AST, EXP) in the ACCOUNT dimension. Because of that, if I create a local member doing a simple sum in a row, the amounts are not correct.
For instance, I have an asset account where the amount is 100 in debit and an income account where the amount is 100 in credit. in MONA, this operation equals 0 but in BPC, that would become 200.
Is there a specific EPM function that allows to make the right sum (like in the example) or is it possible to change a parameter for BPC to express debit amounts as positive and credit amounts as negative ? Users may want to do specific sums, average or any other operations with Excel functions but it wouldn't work because of the account type.
2) local member referencing to a local member
Since I could not find a solution about these negative/positive amounts, I created for each entity (in columns) a local member that would apply the MONA logic (applied in the picture). The local member checks which account type does an account belong to and puts it as negative if it belongs to LEQ or INC.
However, I need to express the total of each entity by intercompanies (grey rows) and I do not know how to sum a whole local member column.
i tried several things :
- If I use a Local Member Recognition, my local member in columns gets replaced.
- If I manually use EPMPosition, it requires to specify each row before the total (if I understand it well). I have more than a thousand rows by Intercompanies so it is not possible.
- I could also use the highest hierarchy level of ACCOUNT dimension to express the grey row total but several accounts are excluded from this report (such as equity which is not theoretically considered as intercompanies). Is creating a new hierarchy without those excluded accounts the only solution to make this report work ?
3) General total of grey rows total
I also need to create a local member (as the last row) that sums every grey row as general total in the end. I did not try it out yet but is EPMInsertcellsBeforeAfterBlock the right function to use ?
