People expect spoon-feeding because they get spoon-feeding. And they get spoon-feeding, because spoon-feeding is rewarded... yay!
Companies just love cheap resources and the cheapest ones, which formally fulfill HR standards, are functionally illiterate, so you can't expect from them to use search engines with proper criteria or try to figure things out.
